Elementary Principal's Message

Jessica SchuetteDear Families,

I am excited to welcome each of you to the beginning of a new school year at Crestview Elementary. At Crestview Elementary, we believe all students can academically excel when learning is meaningful and connections are made to their lives and experiences. We strive to obtain resources to meet the needs of all students, establish high expectations, and provide support so each student can achieve his or her goals and feel empowered. Every student has within them the potential to academically excel as they develop and grow into leaders and life-long learners. Students are taught to take ownership of their learning and actions and how to set and attain goals, thus the elementary school theme this year is, “You set the stage for success.”

We believe in building character and leadership skills that give children a sense of community. This is accomplished by teaching the five competencies that comprise our District’s Portrait of a Graduate: innovative thinker, invested worker, integrity-driven decision maker, interpersonal communicator, and informed citizen. Staff members work with children to develop these leadership qualities and embed the competencies as an integral part of our school’s culture. We utilize Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) as our approach to teach and reinforce positive behaviors meeting the needs of all students. This school-wide approach to discipline focuses on building a safe and positive environment in which all students can learn. We focus on three main school-wide expectations: be responsible, respectful, and safe. Students are taught what appropriate behavior looks like and sounds like in each setting of the school and are rewarded for going above and beyond expectations.

The foundation of a successful school is built upon the cooperation between students, staff, parents, and the community. We believe that parents and the community are vital members of Crestview Elementary. As the staff works with students to help them learn about the world around them, we appreciate the support that parents give their children at home as they strive to reach their learning goals. We look forward to working with parents and community members to provide a high-quality education for each child.
